One region, five dialects.

Perhaps of the "charming" river Mura, which connects Prekmurje and Prlekija into one, heartfelt region. Of rich tradition that remains preserved still today in the everyday life of the locals. Of happy gatherings! Accompanied by good food and even better wine. Of beneficial nature far from the urban rush, roads and noise. Also, of warm sunshine that so often spoils the plains and hills here. Of dialects that sometimes seem like a language of its own. And of the warmth, hospitality and simplicity of the people who speak them.
All these features are specific for the region surrounding the banks of Mura. You are warmly invited to discover Pomurje. Maybe to take a stroll, on which you would certainly have a chance to hear different dialects. Enjoy in hearing some words, including some "difficult" ones.
Prekija dialect
While discovering Pomurje make a stop in Ljutomer which lies in the heart of Prlekija. Karol Grossmann shot the first Slovenian film here. That is why the centre of Prlekija proudly invites you to visit the cult genre Grossmann Fantastic Film and Wine Festival every summer. That is if the zombie growls and zombie walk don't scare you too much. The festival organizes a traditional zombie parade. As befits Prlekija, the festival is also wine-themed and offers a tasting of the finest wines from the area. With a bit of luck, you can also watch a racing competition of the Ljutomer Trotter on Sunday, or you can bike among the terrace vineyards in nearby Jerusalem. And before the day goes to rest, when you wish »lejko noč« (good night), learn a few more dialect words from the area of Prlekija.
