Expano awarded the Green Key certificate and Slovenia Green Attraction label

Murska Sobota is aware of the importance of green and environmentally friendly development and is constantly striving to achieve high green goals to make the city, its surroundings and the region sustainable and friendly to nature and people.

Recycled building - good practice

The Expano Regional Promotion Centre has been awarded the Green Key certificate for tourist attractions. Let us recall that the story of the pavilion is linked to the environment from the very beginning, as it is a wooden building that was reinstalled in Murska Sobota after the World Exhibition in Milan. Recycling the building is not the only green thread linked to the Expo, but it is also closely linked to the immediate surroundings, which have been revitalised and are now intended for recreation and relaxation for locals and visitors to the new destination. Environmentally friendly and responsible business is thus just a continuation of the green story.

Green Key - one of five programmes

The Green Key Certificate is one of the five programmes of the International Foundation for Environmental Education (FEE) and the leading standard of excellence in environmental responsibility and sustainability in the tourism industry. To achieve this environmental certification, it is necessary not only to meet strict criteria and maintain high environmental standards, but also to commit to introducing more sustainable measures into the business every year. The objectives of the Green Key programme are thus to increase the use of environmentally friendly and sustainable ways of doing business and, as a result, to reduce the overall use of resources, raise awareness and change the behavioural patterns of all stakeholders in tourism establishments and the tourism industry in general.

An excellent starting point for joining the Green Scheme

By obtaining the Green Key, the Expano Interactive Adventure Park was able to join the Green Scheme for Slovenian Tourism. In May 2022, it was awarded the SLOVENIA GREEN ATTRACTION label.
