The Synagogue and the Jewish Cemetery

The Lendava synagogue, originally built in 1866, is apart from the Maribor synagogue the only one in Slovenia. The synagogue operated as a religious building until 1944, when, after the expulsion of the Jews, their religious rites were abandoned. Of the original equipment, only a clock has remained. After decades of degradation, the synagogue was renovated in the 1990s, and as such it serves as a showroom and events space. In 2013 it was declared the Pan-Slovenian Holocaust Museum. The Jewish cemetery is located in the village of Dolga vas. There you can see 128 tombstones with inscriptions. The cemetery is divided into three parts and is a protected monument, same as the synagogue.
